Great beginner`s worm bin. It keeps the worms healthy and productive.
The bin is specially made to keep humidity level as worms need - not more and not less. Also it better protects worms from temperature changes. It works on an upward migration system.
This bin can maintain most kinds of earth worms such as
  • Redworm (Eisenia Fetida)
  • Canadian Nightcrawler (Lumbricus terrestris)
  • European Nightcrawler (Eisenia Hortensis)
  • African Nightcrawler (Eudrilus Eugeniae)
but each of those kinds needs it's own specific conditions in the bin. The included manual is for Redworm (Eisenia Fetida) only. For other species please follow this link.
You start the worms in the first tray. When that is full you add the second level, then the next.
The suggested quantity of worms to start this bin is 1/2 of a pound (approximately 500 worms). In full operation, this Wooden Worm Bin can process 1 to 2 pounds of food scrap a week, and maintain a population of 500 to 4,000 worms (approx 4 lb) allowing you to harvest a full tray of castings per two months.
